Toddler Formula

This will be more of a rant than anything because I just can't deal with the double standards.

Why is it ok for children to have "toddler formula", but it is out of the question to breastfeed past 6 months or even a year. It makes me really upset. Isn't formula something that tries to imitate breast milk? So, if its up to 2 years old why does breast milk "lose" nutritional value after 6 months/1 year? It is absurd!

I don't judge people who formula feed their children. It is your unique choice. My first was exclusively formula fed. My second is now formula fed after 5 months of solid breast feeding (I didn't stop by choice), but why those who choose to exclusively breastfeed until the baby self weans whether its at 6 months, one or three can't do so peacefully?

It baffles me that extended breastfeeding is called sexual abuse. Who in their right mind views nursing a child sexually? It sickens me. The discrimination upsets me. Makes me sad that what years ago was absolutely natural has become the unnatural. That women's instincts have been shut down by society's view of them.

Instinct now has become a bottle, and I'm not saying this because I'm pointing fingers. I am saying it because I've been there. The first three weeks or so with my second were very hard and all I ever heard was introduce a bottle, its easier, you're not enough to fill him, and despite what felt right I believed those around me and introduced that bottle. At the time everything seemed so hard. I had an almost 19 month old running around. I was exhausted and it took so much to get the baby back on the breast full time. Sometimes I still had to supplement.

If you're reading this and feeling discouraged by those around you...Take it from me YOU CAN DO IT! You're doing great! Find those who support you and hold on tight. Do not believe when you are told you are not enough because YOU ARE PLENTY!

❤ Until next time!
