Although today is the official Mother's Day my Mother's Day is Tuesday. I know its weird, but its the only day in the week that my SO and I both have off from work so we're planning on celebrating it then. Can I just say that all I really want is a "day off"? Who am I kidding right?! Moms don't have days off not even Mother's Day! Even when dad's around mom is needed. You know what I am talking about. All day long you hear "mom, mom, mom" even with dad sitting right there. They follow you everywhere. They steal your food. They wont even let you drink water without saying "can I have a sip?"
Our children can seriously make us crazy. Don't act like you've never wanted to run away to some remote island with no cell service and never be found. The bad days make you want to pull all of your hair out, but then you hear that sweet little voice say "mommy?" or those tiny little baby arms wrap around your neck and you bounce back. Nothing ever happened.
Today is your day mom! Today we celebrate us moms who sacrifice every bit of ourselves to raise happy and healthy children. We celebrate us who laugh so we wont cry when they are acting crazy. Today we celebrate us moms who let their kids have chips for dinner last night because she had no energy to fight them (I did that last night). We celebrate us moms who throw a towel on the wet bed at 3am because every bit of sleep counts...changing the sheets takes too long. It can wait. Today we celebrate us moms who let the dishes pile up so we can lay on the couch and watch our children play. We are great! No matter which way we parent..we are great.
Today mom rejoice in your children. Rejoice in the opportunity you have been given to watch your children grow. Rejoice in them choosing you to be their mommy.
"There's no one way to be a perfect mother but a million ways to be a good one"
Happy Mother's Day!
